Precision Metal Assembly FAQs

Our most common assembly processes involve staking, which joins two or more components through precision deformation. We also perform riveting, swaging, press-fitting, and orbital forming, as well as welding processes including laser, TIG, MIG, and friction welding.

Precision Resources’ assembly capabilities primarily serve the automotive industry, though we also support customers in aerospace, defense, heavy duty, and other precision-demanding sectors.

Tolerance capability is one of the most common questions we receive, and it’s one we take seriously. Our assembly capabilities span a wide range, from miniature, high-precision components to large, heavy-duty parts, and we hold tolerances down to the nearest micron across that range. We work closely with customers to develop the most robust process for their specific application, and our in-house tooling and fixturing expertise, combined with rigorous post-assembly inspection, ensures assemblies consistently meet even the most demanding specifications.

Yes. Precision Resource offers comprehensive assembly services alongside its component manufacturing capabilities. While many customers initially come to us for fineblanking and precision machining, we also offer extensive experience delivering fully assembled components ready for integration into your final product.

Yes. In most cases, Precision Resource produces the components and performs the assembly, including staking pins and bushings, under one roof. This turnkey approach simplifies your supply chain and ensures tighter control over quality and raw material to finished assembly. We do purchase some assembly components from approved outside suppliers. When doing this we take full responsibility for the quality and logistics related to all purchased components.

Quality inspection is a core part of our assembly process. Precision Resource utilizes a range of advanced inspection methods including force and load monitoring, leak testing, eddy current testing, LVDT measurement, and laser scanning. Our post-assembly inspection capabilities are often one of the first things we walk customers through, as quality is consistently their top concern.

Precision Resource was established as a tool and die shop, and that foundation is a meaningful differentiator. Our ability to design and build robust assembly tooling and fixtures in-house is unmatched — ensuring consistent, repeatable quality from the first part to the millionth. Customers benefit from assemblies that hold tight tolerances reliably over long production runs.

Yes. Our team regularly manages assemblies involving multiple components of varying shapes and sizes, including assemblies that require operations on both sides of the part. Our fixturing expertise and automated assembly cells are designed to handle this complexity without sacrificing consistency or cycle time.

Yes. Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gauge R&R) testing is a standard part of Precision Resource’s assembly process. Every assembly operation at Precision Resource is put through Gauge R&R testing to validate that our measurement systems produce consistent, repeatable results. All assembly equipment must meet compliance requirements before it is approved for production, ensuring that our processes are reliable and our results are trustworthy.
