Illinois Division Makes a Move

Precision Resource, Inc. announced that its Illinois Division has moved into a new facility at 700 Hickory Hill Drive, Vernon Hills, Illinois.

Customers and employees alike are excited about the new, state-of-the-art building. The Illinois Team had been evaluating alternative manufacturing locations after the acquisition of Chicago Fineblanking Corporation in 2001. Initially, the division looked at adding on to the existing building, but the cost of expansion plus the cost of renovating to meet both Precision Resource standards and customer expectations turned out to be almost as costly as starting over.

“So, that’s what we did,” Curt Krueger, Division Manager, summed up. “We looked all over northern Illinois for the ideal location. And wouldn’t you know we finally found it right here, in our own back yard.” The site of the new building is literally around the corner from the former division location.

Architects completed plans for a 60,000 sq. ft. addition and the renovation of an existing 30,000 sq. ft. building on the site, for a total of 90,000 sq. ft. Future expansion is also possible. Builders broke ground in July 2007, and a Move Strategy Team was assembled to plan a smooth move and transition to the new building. Customer requalification activity took place throughout the move.

“We’re all enthusiastic about this change; it’s a great building in a great location, and it really enhances our ability to meet our customers’ needs,” concludes Division Manager Curt Krueger.

Located in Vernon Hills, IL, the Illinois Division specializes in the supply of complex components and assemblies using the fineblanking technology. The company markets its products to the automotive, electronics, power tool, and industrial markets primarily. The division also employs a wide array of secondary finishing technologies, including double disc grinding, CNC machining, and broaching in order to supply very tightly toleranced complete solutions to its customers.

Fineblanking is a high precision metal forming process used extensively in the automotive, heavy duty, electronics, medical, lawn and garden, and general industrial industries. This unique process creates parts with very tight dimensional tolerances, excellent flatness, and with very little variation form part-to-part throughout long production runs. These characteristics lead designers to specify fineblanked components for their most critical applications.

Precision Resource has six production facilities in the United States and Canada and a technical center in Canada. In addition to the facility in Illinois, the company operates plants in Huntington Beach, CA; Shelton, CT; Mt. Sterling, KY; Cambridge, Ontario; and Saltillo, Mexico.
