About Precision Resource

Our History

Precision Resource was founded in 1947 as a small family run tool and die shop. Having worked his way up in the tooling industry, founder Al Teruzzi’s ambition led him to establish the Fairfield Tool Company in the basement of his home. By the 1950’s, enjoying success as a leader in tooling, Teruzzi began to think about melding his tooling experience with new technology.

It was also the decade of the fifties that saw the emergence in Europe of a new metal stamping process called fineblanking. Recognizing that both the quality and the complexity of the parts produced by fineblanking were largely dependent on the accuracy of the dies, Al Teruzzi decided to form a new company. Together with Charles Polatsek, another expert in tooling, and John Weiland, an expert in fineblanking, they formed The Connecticut Fineblanking Corporation in 1969. Their combined experience and investment in specialized equipment created an opportunity to increase market share in the emerging U.S. fineblanking industry.

The Company experienced steady growth after its founding, adding several new fineblanking companies strategically throughout North America, eventually unifying under the single name of Precision Resource. Prioritizing the needs of customers, Precision Resource expanded internationally to support automotive industry growth in Mexico in 2006, China in 2011 and Slovenia in 2017. A technical center was also established in Canada to serve as the centralized fineblanking tool building facility for the company.

Today, Precision Resource is one of the world’s largest independent suppliers of fineblanking tools and contract production services. The nine member companies form a network of shared technology, capital resources, and production capabilities serving manufacturers throughout three continents – North America, Asia, and Europe. The tooling background of the Company continues to be one of its strongest assets, and coupled with newer sophisticated technologies, enables its design engineers to meet the challenge of creating innovative ways to provide optimum value in metalworking applications.
